On draft day, the Titans thought they were getting a big-time playmaker in first-round wide receiver Kendall Wright. After watching him work for three months, they still think that.
Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer told the Tennessean that Wright is doing everything he envisioned Wright could do in his offense when the Titans chose him with the 20th pick in the draft.
“He’s exactly where we want him to be,” Palmer said of Wright. “He has done a tremendous job. He is football smart. He is a high school quarterback who can throw the ball. You can’t have enough guys like that. I’m really happy about what I’ve seen from Kendall.”
Trick plays in which Wright throws the ball would be interesting, but what the Titans drafted Wright to be is an immediate contributor at wide receiver. Wright said he expects to play a lot as a rookie.
“That’s what they drafted me to do,” Wright said.
And the Titans think what they drafted Wright to do is exactly what they’re going to get.
