TMZ doubles down on Seahawks drag-racing claim

After Seahawks running back Fred Jackson crashed his Corvette outside the team’s facility on Tuesday, TMZ reported that Jackson had been drag racing teammate and close friend Marshawn Lynch. Not long after that, numerous denials of racing emerged, via social media and elsewhere.

But TMZ isn’t backing down. The celebrity gossip publication now quotes an eyewitness who insists that Jackson was racing a red Dodge Charger.

“They were both stopped at the same time, they both revved their engines and they both left without stopping,” Jason Hellervik told TMZ. “We were like what are these idiots doing?”

Hellervik and six friends, who were outside the team’s facility looking for autographs, said they have not been contacted by police.

It’s unclear whether police will investigate. In some NFL cities, the authorities have a reputation for not causing problems for the local pro football franchise.
