Tom Brady, Eli Manning trade touchdowns

While guys like Rex Grossman and Josh Johnson get the night off to avoid injuries, the starting quarterbacks of Super Bowl XLII each played for two series.

Tom Brady and Eli Manning each led their teams to touchdowns in their opening drives of the game. Ahmad Brashaw started again at running back for the Giants and had a rush for 11 yards and a catch for 17 yards. It was the smoothest drive the Giants had all preseason.

Brady stood tough in the pocket to deliver a five-yard scoring strike to rookie Rob Gronkowski on third-and-goal to answer Manning’s score, before throwing an interception on his next drive. Wes Welker also came in off the bench to grab a 14-yard catch before leaving.

Most importantly, there were no injuries before both starting units departed.
