Tom Brady tops Michael Vick as offensive player of the year

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the NFL’s offensive player of the year, as chosen by an Associated Press panel of media voters.

Brady received 21 votes from the 50-member media panel, topping Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who had 11 votes. Brady is a lock to be named the NFL MVP on Sunday; the AP voters who didn’t choose Brady as offensive player of the year may have been motivated by a desire to see someone else get an end-of-year honor.

“My only disappointment is that we couldn’t take advantage of our opportunity in the playoffs, but hopefully we learn from that and use it as motivation toward accomplishing our goals for next season,” Brady said in the AP story announcing his award.

Texans running back Arian Foster came in third place with seven votes, followed by Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers with five, and Falcons receiver Roddy White, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson with two each.
