UFL Announces The Results Of Its “Draft”

A day ago, no one outside the UFL knew that the UFL would be conducting its inaugural draft on Thursday evening. We caught wind of the event Thursday morning, and we were a little nervous about going with the news, since we could find nothing on the Internet to corroborate this fact. (We ultimately decided to go with it because: (1) the UFL ain’t Terry Bradhsaw; and (2) we weren’t reporting that it has died . . . yet.) But then the thing caught some momentum, and it was almost as if the UFL realized on the fly that folks might actually be interested in the process, since it applies names and faces to four franchises that have yet to even be given nicknames. So the process is over, and the full list of picks is right here. Names that caught our eye include Adam Archuleta, Wendell Bryant, David Kircus (they spelled his name wrong on the UFL web site -- hopefully that kind of thing doesn’t piss him off, since you wouldn’t like him when he’s upset), Gary Stills, Cecil Sapp, LaBrandon Toefield, Brooks Bollinger, Mike Doss, Rien Long, Rob Petitti, Bo Schobel, Jermaine Wiggins, Quincy Wilson, Obafemi Ayanbadejo, Marcus Fitzgerald (Larry’s brother), and John David Washington (Denzel’s son). Few if any of the players have signed contracts; that’s the next step in the process. Also, quarterbacks will be allocated on July 1.
