The Redskins defensive coaching staff underwent a shakeup at the end of the season and the team continued putting together their new staff on Monday.
The team announced that Robb Akey will be their defensive line coach. Akey just completed his first year as an NFL assistant working as an assistant defensive line coach with the Vikings.
Before that, Akey had a long career in the college ranks that included a six-year stint as the head coach of Idaho from 2007 to 2012. He was 20-50 at the school, although one of his wins came in the 2009 Humanitarian Bowl. It was the second bowl win in school history.
The Redskins have also hired Joe Barry as their defensive coordinator and Perry Fewell as their defensive backs coach since the end of the regular season.
