Sports Illustrated’s John Shipley notes the Jaguars have not been awarded a compensatory pick for the 11th consecutive season.
Just wild. Compensatory picks are awarded to teams from a private formula based on free agency gains and losses (and now coaching hires). It’s a decent barometer of which teams have been savvy and which teams haven’t as the process isn’t the easiest to crack. Jacksonville not picking a single one up in over a decade is embarrassing, but there are reasons for hope with Urban Meyer, Trevor Lawrence, and a bunch of capital coming to town.

  • Jaguars announced, in compliance with state and local authorities, TIAA Bank Field will seat approximately 25 percent of its capacity at each home game this season.
The Jaguars would’ve only filled a quarter of the stadium even if there weren’t a pandemic. The organization will still allow for refunds, and all season ticket payments have already been credited to accounts for use towards the 2021 season. The Buccaneers and Dolphins have yet to announce their plans for attendance this upcoming season.

  • NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the Jaguars will play two home games at Wembley Stadium in 2020.
Jacksonville will unsurprisingly become the first franchise in league history to play two games outside of the United States in the same regular season. Their opponents have yet to be determined, but the league confirmed the Bears and Steelers would remain 2-of-6 home opponents in Florida. With a new CBA on the horizon, this is clearly part of the team’s “ambitious and big-picture plans” to eventually land a full slate of games (and perhaps ownership of Wembley Stadium) in London.
  • Jaguars owner Shad Khan met with coaches and players this week.
Jacksonville is spinning it as a “constructive meeting” but it’s a concern any time an owner intervenes. The Jaguars (2-4) have been a massive disappointment despite a talented roster, ranking in the bottom of the league in total offense and allowing over 26 points per game. Jacksonville also leads the NFL in penalty yards (554) under HC Gus Bradley. Coming off an embarrassing loss to Oakland, Bradley is on the hot seat entering Thursday night’s game against Tennessee.
  • Jaguars owner Shad Khan has made an offer to purchase London’s Wembley Stadium.
Wembley, England’s national stadium and a global icon, is owned by England’s Football Association. Khan’s offer is reportedly worth $700 million. In a statement, Khan claims the deal would be about "(strengthening) our investment in London, which as everyone knows is crucial to the Jaguars’ continued sustainability in Jacksonville.” It doesn’t pass the smell test that a billionaire would shell out that much money for a stadium on another continent to play the one game per season the Jags currently host in London, but it’s still quite early in the process.
