Cowboys agreed to terms with sixth-round LB Stephen Hodge on a four-year contract.

Hodge is behind the eight-ball in converting from safety to linebacker after undergoing mid-June arthroscopic surgery on his knee. If he makes the roster as a rookie, Hodge will be limited to special teams duty.

The Cowboys’ website reveals that sixth-round pick Stephen Hodge underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on June 16.

Hodge needed OTAs more than most rookies because he’s converting from college safety to NFL linebacker. It can’t help his odds of making the club.

Cowboys LB Stephen Hodge is still recovering from microfracture surgery.

The procedure, which ended Hodge’s rookie year last summer, was initially called a scope. Turns out it was far more serious. While Hodge should be ready for training camp, he’s not a great bet to make the 2010 roster.

Cowboys LB Stephen Hodge (microfracture surgery) isn’t expected to be cleared until training camp begins.

Microfracture surgery is a serious procedure that can often take more than a year to recover from. Hodge likely has an uphill battle to make the team.

Cowboys LB Stephen Hodge is done for the season after undergoing microfracture surgery Thursday on his right knee.

He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. It’s Hodge’s second microfracture procedure, though the one in June of 2009 was to his left knee. He was unable to take part in offseason workouts this year, and he’s looking at the same scenario again in 2011. His NFL career is in serious jeopardy.

Cowboys waived LB Stephen Hodge with an injury settlement.

Hodge has undergone microfracture on both knees since being drafted in the sixth round last year. The latest surgery was just a month ago, so Hodge won’t be helping any other teams this year. His fledgling NFL career is on the skids.

Cowboys placed LB Stephen Hodge (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.

The 2009 sixth-rounder may never get his career off the ground. Hodge underwent a serious microfracture procedure after recovering slowly from an April, 2009 knee scope. Hodge is eligible to return from PUP in Week 7, but the Cowboys are deep at inside linebacker and won’t rush him back.

The Cowboys will place S Akwasi Owusu-Ansah (shoulder) and LB Stephen Hodge on the active/PUP list to begin camp.

They’ll be eligible to come off the list at any time. Since they can’t practice yet, the Cowboys don’t have to count Hodge and AOA against their 80-man roster limit. The team will have to make two cuts once the players get healthy.
