Oklahoma redshirt junior DB Tre Norwood (knee) is fully healthy as spring practice boots up.
“We’re gonna be smart with [Norwood] in the spring. But he’s gonna be able to get a lot of reps. He’s done a great job (rehabbing),” said Sooners HC Lincoln Riley, who passed along that there would be “no limits” on what Norwood can do in practice. The 6-foot, 184-pounder was waylaid by a left knee injury in August camp prior to the start of the 2019 campaign and ended up missing the whole of the season. He had started 19 straight games before the injury monster cost him a year of action. Oklahoma opened spring practices on Tuesday.
  • Oklahoma junior DB Tre Norwood (knee) has been ruled out for the upcoming season.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach forwarded the possibility of a lost season earlier this week after Norwood went down with a left knee injury in practice on Monday. The injury occurred on a non-contact play. The 6-foot, 184-pound junior had started 19 consecutive contests heading into camp and was set to serve as the team’s starting nickelback for the coming campaign. Oklahoma HC Lincoln Riley tagged Chanse Sylvie, Brendan Radley-Hiles and Jeremiah Criddell as three candidates who could help fill in now that Norwood has been waylaid.
  • ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reports that Oklahoma junior DB Tre Norwood (knee) could be in danger of missing the fall campaign.
Norwood (6'0/184) sustained a left knee injury during Monday’s practice and was subsequently spotted on crutches. While we don’t yet know the full scope of the junior’s injury concern, anything that would keep him out for a substantial amount of time (even if not for the full season) would be a serious setback for a defense which was among the lousiest in the FBS last fall. Norwood was a 14-game starter last season, logging 58 tackles with a sack, an interception and five passes defensed in that space. Miguel Edwards and Jaden Davis are two candidates who could potentially be called upon for larger roles with Norwood out seemingly indefinitely.
