Report: Canucks are listening to offers for Alex Edler
While their goaltending situation remains the primary soap opera, the Vancouver Canucks appear willing to look at additional ways to clear up cap space. Apparently that could mean trading defenseman Alexander Edler.
Will VAN’s Alex Edler get “Jeff Carter-ed”? (Traded right before his NTC kicks in). I’d say there’s a decent chance Edler gets “Carter-ed.”

(Let’s all cringe in advance at the jokes that will sprout up thanks to the created verb “Carter-ed.”)
Edler’s six-year deal expires after the 2018-19 season and is worth $30 million overall. While the team would probably prefer to trade another blueliner such as Keith Ballard, Edler is likely to fetch the best return among the team’s defensemen.
Of course, there’s a big difference between listening to offers and actively entertaining them. Still, this could be one of several interesting storylines to watch during draft day that might not really involve prospects.
