Raiders placed TE Nick O’Leary on the reserve/NFI list, ending his season.
It means O’Leary got hurt working out on his own. O’Leary was signed as offseason depth on March 21. His loss won’t be felt in the Raiders’ deep tight end corps. Provided he is not dealing with something like a torn ACL or ruptured Achilles’ tendon, 27-year-old O’Leary will likely end up getting cut loose with an injury settlement.

  • FA Tight End
Raiders signed TE Nick O’Leary, formerly of the Jaguars.
Coach Jon Gruden and GM Mike Mayock have made tight end depth a priority despite having one of the league’s better young tight ends on the roster. O’Leary, who has bottom-first percentile 29.75-inch arms, will be a run-blocking specialist behind Darren Waller and alongside Jason Witten.
  • FA Tight End
Nick O’Leary caught 4-of-5 targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars’ Week 14 loss to the Chargers.
The touchdown was an easy pitch and catch from 12 yards out after Gardner Minshew managed to avoid pressure and extend the play. Still, O’Leary should work as the offense’s No. 5 pass-game option more weeks than not behind the Jaguars’ top-three WRs as well as Leonard Fournette. Minshew led the offense to more than 20 points in four of his first eight starts, but the Jaguars have now gone five consecutive games without surpassing that threshold. O’Leary isn’t anything more than a touchdown-dependent TE2 inside of this low-scoring offense.
  • FA Tight End
    Jaguars signed TE Nick O’Leary.
The Jags have had a hard time replacing James O’Shaughnessy (ACL) and Geoff Swaim (concussion), who were both lost to injured reserve. Third-round rookie Josh Oliver is also slated to miss time with back fractures. O’Leary, who spent a chunk of the season with Miami before being ousted last month, will join Seth DeValve and Ben Koyack in Jacksonville’s tight end corps.
  • FA Tight End
    Dolphins released TE Nick O’Leary.
O’Leary, who signed a one-year extension last December, had a costly drop in Monday night’s loss to the Steelers. For the year, the 27-year-old fifth-year pro had just four grabs for 37 yards.
  • FA Tight End
Dolphins signed TE Nick O’Leary to a one-year extension through 2019.
A sixth-round pick in 2015, O’Leary was waived by the Bills in camp and joined the Dolphins midseason. He’ll stay involved behind rookie Mike Gesicki and on special teams through the following year.
  • FA Tight End
Nick O’Leary caught 2-of-3 targets for 23 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 7 loss to the Lions.
Suddenly a Dolphin a few weeks ago, O’Leary now has five catches over his past two games. He should stay involved for the Dolphins’ Week 8 Thursday night game, as both Albert Wilson (hip) and Kenny Stills (leg) are banged up.
  • FA Tight End
    Bills waived TE Nick O’Leary.
A sixth-round pick in 2015, O’Leary had been a steady member of the tight end rotation for three seasons, but Buffalo decided to go with more upside behind Charles Clay this year.
  • FA Tight End
Bills TE Nick O’Leary is on the roster bubble.
A sixth-round pick last year, O’Leary was active only four games as a rookie. The Bills don’t have much behind Charles Clay, but signed Jim Dray to be their blocking tight end. 2014 UDFA Blake Annen has reportedly outplayed O’Leary and Chris Gragg this offseason.
  • FA Tight End
The Bills are expected to use more two-tight end packages under new OC Rick Dennison.
Charles Clay is locked in atop the depth chart, while Nick O’Leary figures to have a firm grip for the No. 2 seat. A bubble player for the previous coaching staff, O’Leary could see a big bump in snaps, according to ESPN Bills reporter Mike Rodak. And with Clay’s knee a “concern” for the coaches, O’Leary could play a huge role if Clay goes down. Buffalo has also flirted with free agent Gary Barnidge. O’Leary is 6'3/252 but has short arms and 4.93 speed.
