Nyjer Morgan went 2-for-5 with a steal Thursday in his debut for Double-A Altoona.
Morgan was hitting .303/.390/.360 with 38 steals in 49 attempts for Single-A Lynchburg. He’s three days away from 26, so he is a long shot. However, he might surface as a September pinch-runner one of these years.
  • INT Outfield
The Brewers plan to handle Wednesday’s incident with Nyjer Morgan internally.
Morgan incited a benches-clearing incident Wednesday after jawing with Cardinals’ right-hander Chris Carpenter following a swinging strikeout. No punches were thrown, but the eccentric outfielder later directed some tweets at Albert Pujols by addressing him as “Alberta.” The Brewers likely aren’t pleased and Morgan has worn out his welcome in the past, but it’s not known whether he’ll sit out a game as a form of punishment.
  • INT Outfield
Nyjer Morgan went 2-for-5 with one run and the game winning RBI as the Brewers advanced to their first-ever NLCS in a 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
There was speculation as to whether Ron Roenicke would replace Morgan in the lineup with Carlos Gomez prior to the game, but his decision to stick would Morgan paid off as Gomez singled and stole second in the tenth inning before Morgan’s hit advanced the Brewers to the NLCS. Morgan also scored the team’s first run of the game off a sacrifice fly by Jerry Hairston in the fourth.
  • INT Outfield
Nyjer Morgan is back in center field for Game 2 of the NLCS against the Cardinals.
Carlos Gomez got the nod in Game 1 against the left-hander Jaime Garcia in Game 1, but Morgan is back in there against the right-hander Edwin Jackson. He’ll bat second Monday night while Jerry Hairston Jr. is dropped down to sixth in the order.
  • INT Outfield
Nyjer Morgan went 0-for-3 in the Brewers’ Game 2 NLCS setback on Monday.
Morgan is now hitting .150/.261/.200 with nine strikeouts in 20 post-season at-bats. It will be interesting to see whether he gets the nod over Carlos Gomez against right-hander Chris Carpenter in Game 3.
  • INT Outfield
Nyjer Morgan was hitless in four at-bats Monday against the White Sox.
Morgan has not showed off his assets this spring. His biggest weapon -- speed -- has translated into two steals in five attempts. With an ugly 12/3 K/BB ratio and a .238 batting average, he is not entering the regular season on a high note.
  • INT Outfield
Nyjer Morgan is not in Monday’s lineup against the Astros.
Norichika Aoki will make the start in center field and bat second against right-hander Lucas Harrell. Morgan is batting just .119 (5-for-42) on the young season, so Aoki could continue to get looks if the struggles continue.
  • INT Outfield
Nyjer Morgan is not in Wednesday’s lineup against the Astros.
Morgan broke out of his recent funk by going 3-for-5 with a stolen base on Tuesday, but he’ll take a seat against the left-hander J.A. Happ. Carlos Gomez will make the start in center field and hit second.
  • PIT Outfield
Corey Hart will get the day off Wednesday against the Cubs.
Hart is hitting .429 (6-for-14) with three homers and four RBI so far this season, so he hasn’t missed a beat after knee surgery, but Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is using Wednesday’s day game as an opportunity to rest him. Nyjer Morgan will make the start in left while Carlos Gomez plays center.
  • NYM Outfield #11
Norichika Aoki will make his first major league start in center field Friday.
Aoki’s only other start was on April 11 in left field. The 30-year-old is 3-for-10 with an RBI and two walks thus far and is unlikely to have much fantasy value buried on the outfield depth chart.
