NBC Sunday Night Football’s 21st Season Kicks Off with New England Patriots visiting Seattle Seahawks in a Super Bowl LX rematch on Wednesday., Sept. 9 on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo
STAMFORD, Conn. – August 4, 2026 – NBC Sports kicks off its coverage of the 2026 NFL season this Thursday, August 6, as the Carolina Panthers face the Arizona Cardinals at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on NBC and Peacock. Pregame coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock with Football Night in America on-site in Canton, followed by kickoff at 8 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports’ Sunday Night Football announce team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play) Cris Collinsworth (analyst), and Melissa Stark (sideline reporter) will be on the call for Panthers-Cardinals, with Terry McAulay serving as rules analyst.
Football Night in America will be hosted on-location in Canton by Maria Taylor and features former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, three-time Super Bowl champion Devin McCourty, and NFL insider Mike Florio. Mike Tomlin, the Super Bowl‑winning former head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, joins NBC Sports as a FNIA studio analyst and debuts Thursday evening.
The pregame show will preview the 2026 NFL season and celebrate the players being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend.
Members of this year’s Hall of Fame class – which includes wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, linebacker Luke Kuechly, who both spent their entire careers with the teams that drafted them, quarterback Drew Brees, running back Roger Craig, and placekicker Adam Vinatieri – will be featured, while select inductees will be interviewed in FNIA and during the game by Melissa Stark. Cardinals first-year head coach Mike LaFleur, the reigning NFC South champion Panthers head coach Dave Canales, and select Arizona and Carolina players are also expected to be interviewed in-game.
LaFleur makes his NFL head coaching debut after three seasons as the Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator, highlighted in 2025 by the NFL’s top offense in scoring (30.5 points/game) and yardage (394.6). Arizona’s offense is led by first-team All-Pro Trey McBride, whose 126 receptions in 2025 set the NFL’s single-season record for a tight end, while safety Budda Baker, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, continues to lead the Cardinals’ defense.
Canales, now in his third year as head coach, led the Panthers to the NFC South title last season and a home playoff game – a 34-31 loss to the Rams. Quarterback Bryce Young passed for more than 3,000 yards and 23 touchdowns – seven to wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, the 2025 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year.
This will be the sixth trip to Canton for the Cardinals, while Carolina plays in the Hall of Fame Game for the first time since their debut NFL season in 1995, facing fellow expansion franchise Jacksonville.

NBC’s SNF begins its 21st season in 36 days on Wednesday, Sept. 9 in NFL Kickoff ’26 as Drake Maye and the New England Patriots visit Sam Darnold and the champion Seattle Seahawks in a Super Bowl LX rematch on NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo.
Four nights later (Sept. 13), NBC Sports’ SNF opener features Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys visiting Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants, in John Harbaugh’s head coaching debut with New York. The Sunday night opener marks the 15th time the Cowboys face the Giants in NBC’s Sunday Night Football package – the second-most played matchup on NBC’s SNF (Cowboys-Eagles, 17).
