NBC Sports Group Wins “Best in Digital Sports Media” at Sports Business Awards

Last night, NBC Sports Group won the 2014 Sports Business Award for “Best in Digital Sports Media,” and was recognized for its excellence and outstanding achievement. This past year, NBC Sports Group Digital saw record performance and consumption for the Sochi Olympics, NFL, Premier League, NHL, and others; continued its digital partnership with Yahoo! Sports; and established new partnerships.

NBC Sports Group also won “Best in Sports TV” and “Best in Sports Media,” sweeping all three media awards, a Sports Business Awards first.

Wall-to-Wall Motorsports Coverage on NBC Sports Live Extra This Weekend

NBC Sports Digital will stream more than 50 hours of motorsports coverage this week leading into the “Biggest Day in Motorsports,” highlighted by the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. ET. Coverage spans Formula One, IndyCar, NASCAR, AMA Motocross, Global Rallycross and new original programming, culminating with NBC’s live coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix. NBC Sports Live Extra will also air F1 and Motocross practices exclusively online.

The majority of content will be live streamed via “TV Everywhere,” the media industry’s effort to make quality content available to authenticated customers both in and out of the home and on multiple platforms.

Viewers Stream Nearly 2 Million Minutes of Preakness Stakes

The Preakness Stakes delivered its best race ever in all key metrics, including 1.95 million minutes and 122,000 uniques on NBC Sports Live Extra. Consumption was up 127% and 175%, respectively, over last year. This year’s streaming coverage included exclusive camera angles (California Chrome, overhead, fans), bonus analysis from NBC Sports commentators, and replays and highlights from the Kentucky Derby and earlier prep races.

Rangers-Canadiens Score Best Digital NHL Conference Final Game

Monday’s Game 2 between the Rangers and Habs, in which the Rangers won 3-1, was the best authentication-required NHL Conference Finals game ever in uniques (46,000), visits (51,000) and live starts (128,000). The game also delivered 2.34 million minutes.
