IMSA – MICHELIN GT CHALLENGE AT VIR

IMSA returns this week with the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR from Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Va., this Sunday, Aug. 23, at 12 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. The 3.27 mile race features 23 cars across the Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) and Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) classes.

Widely considered one of the toughest tracks in the United States due to its 17 corners in only 3.27 miles, VIR will host one of the most closely-contested races of the season. The top five contenders in the GTD PRO class are all clustered within 113 points of each other, while in GTD, the top four are only separated by 45 points. Connor De Phillippi and Neil Verhagen (No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW) lead the GTD Pro standings by only 15 points over Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner (No. 4 Corvette Racing). IMSA newcomer Dudu Barrichello (No. 27 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin) leads the GTD standings.

NBC Sports’ Brian Till will call the action alongside former IMSA GT driver and analyst Calvin Fish. Chris Wilner will serve as pit reporter. Earlier this week, Till and Fish previewed the race on the Motorsports on NBC YouTube channel; to watch, click here.

Live coverage of WeatherTech Championship qualifying will be presented this Saturday at 4:45 p.m. ET exclusively on Peacock.
