49ers LB Dee Winters (ankle) is questionable for San Francisco’s Wild Card game against the Eagles.
Winters did not practice Wednesday or Thursday and was not seen by media on Friday. The 49ers will give him every hour he can to be healthy as he’s the main incumbent with a chance to play this week. If not, the 49ers will have to turn to Eric Kendricks, Garret Wallow, and possibly new signing Kyzir White in the middle against the Eagles. CB Renardo Green (foot) and DE Keion White (groin/hamstring) are also questionable for the 49ers.
  • FA Cornerback #30
    49ers released CB Eli Apple.
It’s an unfortunate development for Apple. The 49ers signed him following CB Renardo Green’s July hamstring strain. Green was spotted rehabbing his injury on the field with fellow injured teammates on Tuesday. The 49ers correspondingly signed DT Michael Dwumfour to a one-year contract.
  • SF Defensive Back #2
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that CB Deommodore Lenoir (hip irritation) will be sidelined for at least two more practices.
Both of the 49ers’ starting perimeter cornerbacks are now injured. Fellow starter, CB Renardo Green, is “aiming” to return for the 49ers’ second preseason game as he rehabs a hamstring strain suffered last Sunday.
  • SF Wide Receiver #19
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said WR Jacob Cowing (hamstring) is “aiming” to return for the 49ers’ preseason Week 2 game against the Raiders.
Shanahan lumped CB Renardo Green (hamstring) into the injury update with the same return-to-play target date. Cowing strained his hamstring on July 23. Returning in time for the August 16 game gives the two more than three weeks to rehab the issue. It will cost them valuable practice time, though.
  • SF Running Back
49ers signed RB Isaac Guerendo to a four-year contract.
The former Louisville running back blew away the combine earlier this year, running a 4.33 40-yard dash at 6'0/221 while also dominating in explosiveness and agility testing. His 9.89 RAS is one of the best in the metric’s history and likely played a role in the 49ers moving up to select him in the fourth round. Guerendo has a limited production profile, rushing for 231-1392-17 over five college seasons. He also caught 42 passes for 358 yards and 1 touchdown. It’s possible he develops into an intriguing handcuff behind Christian McCaffrey for the upcoming season, although several veterans do stand in his way. He’s best viewed as a dynasty stash as he works to carve out a role. In addition to Guerendo, the 49ers also signed CB Rendardo Green and WR Jacob Cowing.
  • SF Cornerback
49ers selected Florida State CB Renardo Green with the No. 64 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Green (6’0/186) is one of the more versatile defensive backs in the class having played safety/nickel early on at Florida State before transitioning to the outside. His 43 tackles and 14 pass break ups last season earned him an 83rd percentile overall grade as well as Second Team All-ACC recognition. Always eager to assist in run support, tallying 31 run stops with 101 tackles over the past two seasons for the Seminoles. An explosive defensive back who makes plays with precise timing and savvy angle usage, he ran a 4.49s 40-time (73rd%) with a sensational 10’10” broad jump (95th%) for an 8.21 RAA. Green allowed a 51.7% reception rate in ‘23 and was lockdown against some of the top wideouts in the country. Malik Nabers, Eugene Wilson, and Jamari Thrash combined for just six receptions on 10 targets for 54 yds total while collecting four PBUs and one interception. Green’s spotty footwork can cause him to get beat by twitchy wide receivers, which results in flags as he tends to get handsy. Green will join a San Francisco secondary graded by PFF as 2023’s third best coverage unit.
  • SF Cornerback #0
Florida State sophomore DB Renardo Green continues to make progress in his recovery from an undisclosed injury according to HC Mike Norvell.
Green (6'0/185) has not appeared in a game since the Seminoles’ win over North Carolina back in October, robbing Florida State of a key starter in the secondary. The sophomore defensive back is listed as a possible starter at free safety on this week’s depth chart, sharing the top spot with redshirt freshman Travis Jay.

Florida State three-star 2019 verbal CB commit Renardo Green will take an official visit to Ohio State for The Game on Nov. 24.
Green (5'11/164) will have an opportunity to take in one of the premier rivalries in all of college football come Thanksgiving time. The Buckeyes initially offered to the Apopka, Florida, native in June. While the three-star corner prospect will continue to weigh his options into the winter, there’s been no indication to this juncture that he’s in danger of flipping from FSU. On the 247Sports composite board, Green ranks as the No. 40 cornerback prospect in the 2019 class.
