Seahawks DLs Grant Wistrom (shoulder) and Rocky Bernard (knee) returned to practice Wednesday.
It was the first practice of camp for both. Their workloads will be limited but Seattle needed the veterans back with their line previously depleted.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
Rocky Bernard is tied for the NFL lead in sacks for defensive tackles with three.
Who? Seattle is getting contributions from everyone right now. Bernard is worth a look in the rare IDP leagues that require DTs.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
    Giants re-signed DT Rocky Bernard.
The 33-year-old Bernard appeared in all 16 games with the G-Men last season, netting 30 tackles but no sacks. With Marvin Austin back healthy and Shaun Rogers aboard, Bernard will be fighting just for a roster spot in training camp.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #99
Giants placed DT Chris Canty (knee surgery) on reserve/PUP.
Canty has declined to reveal details regarding his knee procedure, but there are whispers that he underwent a microfracture procedure. Look for either Rocky Bernard or Marcus Thomas to start next to Linval Joseph in Week 1.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
Giants defensive tackle Rocky Bernard (quadriceps) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Browns.
Bernard will be replaced in the starting lineup by second-year player Marvin Austin. Bernard, 33, has amassed 14 tackles and a sack in the season’s first four weeks after re-signing with the Giants in the offseason.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
The Giants are unlikely to re-sign impending free agent DT Rocky Bernard.
Bernard was a strong pass-rushing defensive tackle in his heyday, but that time has passed as he approaches 34 years old. The Giants already re-signed one 34-year-old in Shaun Rogers on Thursday. Bernard should be able to land a one-year deal somewhere, though.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
Giants DT Rocky Bernard played all of last season with a partially torn rotator cuff.
This at least partially explains why Bernard busted so badly as a free agent. After suffering the injury last May, he said he felt pain on nearly every play and tallied just one sack to go with 22 tackles. Bernard finally had surgery after last season and is hopeful he’ll be at 100 percent for Week 1.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
Free agent DT Rocky Bernard is visiting the Lions Wednesday.
It’s the first known interest in Bernard since the Giants let him walk in free agency. He’s 34 now, but could still give the Lions some early-down rotational depth behind starters Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley. Defensive end Jason Jones is expected to move inside on passing downs. The Lions have also been linked to free agent defensive tackle Justin Bannan this week.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
The Seahawks re-signed defensive tackle Rocky Bernard to a one-year contract worth $656,000.
Bernard will be hard pressed to find a lot of playing time with Rashad Moore, Cedric Woodard and Marcus Tubbs ahead of him on the depth chart.
  • FA Defensive Lineman #95
Seahawks DT Rocky Bernard (ankle, groin) is listed as questionable for Week 5 and didn’t practice Friday, but is expected to play Sunday.
The pass rushing interior lineman has nine tackles and 2.5 sacks through four games this season. Bernard was reportedly given Friday off to rest.
