    Nationals released RHP Rogelio Armenteros.
Armenteros will test the free agent waters in search of a new opportunity after being cut loose by the Nationals earlier this week. The 27-year-old righty, who was in contention for a rotation spot back in spring training, posted an uninspiring 6.08 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 42/25 K/BB ratio across 40 innings (10 appearances, nine starts) at Triple-A Rochester this season.

Nationals designated RHP Rogelio Armenteros for assignment.
The move clears him from the 40-man roster. Armenteros has struggled with a 5.83 ERA over seven starts in Triple-A this year.

Rogelio Armenteros will be shut down for a couple days due to right arm soreness.
Armenteros is slated to be examined by a doctor soon. The right-hander is in the mix for the fifth spot in the Nationals’ rotation and any physical setback would obviously be detrimental.

  • CWS Starting Pitcher #47
Erick Fedde, Joe Ross, Austin Voth and Rogelio Armenteros are competing to be the Nationals fifth starter this spring.
Fedde would seem to have the inside track after occupying Stephen Strasburg’s rotation spot last year, but he’ll need to hold off Ross and Voth in camp. The 27-year-old righty registered a respectable 4.29 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 28/22 K/BB ratio across 50 1/3 innings over 11 appearances (eight starts). Armenteros, who was claimed off waivers from the Diamondbacks this offseason, is the wild card in the competition. He missed the entire 2020 season after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur in his right elbow. It’s a position battle worth watching closely for fantasy managers in NL-only formats.

Nationals claimed RHP Rogelio Armenteros off waivers from the Diamondbacks.
Armenteros was just claimed off waivers from the Astros a couple of weeks ago, but he didn’t stick around for long. The 26-year-old had surgery in March to remove a bone spur from his right elbow and didn’t end up pitching this year. He had a 4.00 ERA over 18 innings during his first taste of the majors in 2019 and offers some useful depth between the rotation and bullpen.

Diamondbacks claimed RHP Rogelio Armenteros off waivers from the Astros.
Armenteros missed all of the 2020 while recovering from surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow. The 26-year-old is healthy now and could help the D-backs either as a starter or reliever.

Astros activated RHP Rogelio Armenteros from the 60-day injured list.
Just some roster cleanup for the Astros, as all players on the 60-day injured list must be added back to the 40-man roster now that the season has concluded. Armenteros had surgery in March to remove a bone spur from his right elbow and didn’t end up pitching for the Astros this season.

Astros transferred RHP Rogelio Armenteros to the 45-day injured list.
The right-hander is still recovering from bone spurs in his pitching elbow. This was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the roster for Jose Urquidy who was activated on Saturday.

Astros placed RHP Rogelio Armenteros on the 10-day injured list with bone spurs in his right elbow.
Armenteros had surgery in March and is still in recovery. He probably isn’t going to have much of a role with the big club this season.
