Packers signed No. 232 pick LB Sam Barrington to a four-year contract.
Not a big college pass rusher (6.5 career sacks), Barrington figures to convert from outside linebacker at South Florida to the inside in Green Bay, where he goes 6-foot-1, 246 with 4.91 speed. He’ll play special teams in year one.

Packers selected USF LB Sam Barrington with the No. 232 overall pick.
Barrington (6-foot 7/8, 246) made 36 starts at outside linebacker in the Bulls’ 4-3, registering 21.5 career tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, one interception, and five forced fumbles. He ran 4.91 at the Combine with a 1.67 ten-yard split and 22 bench-press reps. He will likely play an inside linebacker spot and add depth to that position for the Packers.

    Packers waived ILB Sam Barrington.
It’s a surprise in that Barrington was competing for a starting job. He was beaten out by Jake Ryan for the inside linebacker spot next to fourth-round rookie Blake Martinez. The Packers’ defense will be soft in the middle this year.

Chiefs claimed LB Sam Barrington off waivers from the Packers.
Barrington was competing with Jake Ryan for a starting role at inside linebacker before the Packers sent him packing on Saturday. He should see significant snaps in Kansas City now that projected starter Rakim Wilson has been waived.

    Chiefs waived ILB Sam Barrington.
Barrington was claimed off waivers after final cuts. He appeared in two games as a Chief.

    Saints signed LB Sam Barrington.
A 2013 seventh-rounder, Barrington made seven starts for the Packers back in 2014. He’s rarely been on the field since then. He spent a brief moment with the Chiefs earlier this season after three in Green Bay.

Bills signed LB Sam Barrington, S Bacarri Rambo, and OL Karim Barton.
Barrington has also spent time with the Chiefs and Packers. Turning 27 in October, Barrington will try to make the Bills as a backup and special teamer. Rambo adds playmaking potential but error proneness at free safety.

Packers placed LB Sam Barrington on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.
A seventh-round rookie, Barrington pulled up lame in Monday night’s loss. A special teamer, Barrington had played only one snap on defense. He’ll be back to compete for one of the Packers’ final roster spots next summer.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports the Packers “like the prospects” of second-year ILB Sam Barrington.
Barrington was the 232nd overall pick in last April’s draft and played just one snap on defense before landing on injured reserve with a hamstring injury in November. We can’t see the Packers liking him enough to start, however. He ran a 4.91 at the Combine and is just 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds.

Packers ILB Sam Barrington (ankle) was spotted on crutches and in a walking boot following the Packers’ Week 1 win over the Bears.
Barrington entered the game with an ankle injury and apparently aggravated it early in the game. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel speculates Barrington will be out “awhile.” Nate Palmer played in Barrington’s place. The Packers’ defense was gashed by Matt Forte with Barrington and S Morgan Burnett (calf) sidelined. Green Bay gets Seattle next week.
