    Giants waived CB Sam Beal.
It’s amazing he lasted this long after pleading guilty to gun-related charges in June. Beal appeared in nine total games over four seasons with New York, playing one defensive snap last week and immediately being waived.

Giants CB Sam Beal pleaded guilty to gun-related charges stemming from a June 2020 arrest near Cleveland.
A third-round pick in the 2018 supplemental draft, Beal was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle and marijuana possession on June 2 last year and later indicted on the gun charges on August 13. He’ll receive two years of probation and be ordered to pay court costs and court-appointed attorney fees. The 24-year-old was already a long shot to make the Giants’ roster since he hasn’t played in practically two years after opting out of 2020 and spending most of 2019 on injured reserve, inevitably going down as one of GM Dave Gettleman’s worst selections.

Giants CB Sam Beal opted out of the 2020 season.
Beal will receive the NFLPA agreed upon salary and is ineligible to return in 2020. Beal spent most of last season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He’ll be competing for a final roster spot during the 2021 offseason when he returns.

Giants activated CB Sam Beal (hamstring) from injured reserve.
A 2018 supplemental third-rounder, injuries have prevented Beal from stepping foot on the regular season field. He missed all of his rookie year with a shoulder issue. Even with first-round rookie DeAndre Baker struggling mightily, coach Pat Shurmur has already said Beal is not a candidate to start.

Giants coach Pat Shurmur said the team expects to activate CB Sam Beal (hamstring) from injured reserve this week.
Shurmur added that No. 30 overall pick DeAndre Baker will continue to start even when Beal’s healthy. Baker’s been put through the wringer in his debut season, being charged with 34/623/7 and a 152.8 quarterback rating on 48 targets thrown in his direction. Although Beal won’t see the field immediately upon being activated, it makes sense for the Giants to throw the former third-round supplemental project into the fire at some point as this young secondary continues to develop under a microscope. Beal missed all of last year with a shoulder injury.

Giants placed CB Sam Beal on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
More tough luck for Beal, who missed all of 2018 with a shoulder injury. The former third-round supplemental pick began OTAs as a starter and was expected to play meaningful snaps for the Giants in 2019 if he proved to be healthy. The Giants secondary is going to need a big rookie campaign from Deandre Baker.
  • FA Defensive Back #30
Giants first-round CB Deandre Baker worked with the first-team defense during the offseason program.
Sophomore Sam Beal opened the offseason program opposite Janoris Jenkins, but Baker jumped him on the depth chart by the time minicamp was over. This battle will continue throughout training camp, but Baker looks like the favorite right now. If Beal loses out, he could get a look in the slot.

Giants sophomore CB Sam Beal opened OTAs as the starter opposite Janoris Jenkins.
A third-round supplemental pick last July, Beal missed all of his rookie season because of a shoulder injury. He is getting the first crack at the starting job opposite Jenkins, but he will have to hold off first-round rookie Deandre Baker and fourth-round rookie Julian Love to keep that spot. It might not pay off this year, but the Giants have some young talent in the secondary.

Giants rookie CB Sam Beal is out for the season with a shoulder injury.
He aggravated a pre-existing injury at Monday’s practice and needs surgery. The Giants selected Beal in the third round of the supplemental draft. Had he played, Beal would have provided depth behind Janoris Jenkins and Eli Apple.

Western Michigan CB Sam Beal will enter the 2018 supplemental draft.
Beal (6'1/185) was forced to leave Western Michigan for academic issues. He’s coming off a second-team All-MAC junior year and had been projected as a top-five corner for the 2019 draft. Beal joins Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander and Mississippi State FS Brandon Bryant in a talented supplemental class. He has mid-round potential.
