Redskins P Sav Rocca (questionable, knee) is expected to be able to punt on Sunday against the Giants.
Rocca was injured while jogging after practice this week, and there was some concern about his availability for Week 7. The Redskins worked out three free agent punters on Friday. Rocca has a net average of 37.3 yards-per-punt with nine inside the 20 through six games.

Redskins P Sav Rocca will undergo surgery repair a torn MCL in his knee.
Rocca expects to be kicking again by April. The 39-year-old is a free agent in 2013. He wants to play for another 2-3 years. Rocca finished in the middle of the pack in Pro Football Focus’ punter ratings for 2012.
  • FA Punter #6
    Redskins re-signed P Sav Rocca to a two-year, $2.24 million contract.
Rocca set a career-high last season with a 43.9 yards-per-punt average. The signing means the Redskins fully expect his surgically-repaired torn MCL to be ready for camp.

    Redskins released P Sav Rocca.
Rocca, 40, punted 84 times last season and finished dead last in net average with a pitiful 33.8 mark. Opposing return men averaged 16.8 yards per return against the Redskins, the worst rate in the league. Rocca is a soccer-style punter. The Redskins saved $1.2 million against the cap with his release.
  • Eagles released P Dirk Johnson.
Johnson lost his roster spot to 34-year-old Australian Rules Football import Sav Rocca.

  • Eagles signed P Durant Brooks to a two-year contract.
Brooks was expected to be the Packers’ punter last season, but a hip injury cost him the job. If healthy, he’ll push restricted free agent Sav Rocca for the Eagles’ punting job.
  • FA Punter #6
The Eagles extended an original pick tender to restricted free agent P Saverio Rocca.
Rocca is 36, so the Birds wouldn’t be opposed to finding a long-term solution. He’s also struggled with his hang time. The Eagles did sign Durant Brooks to a futures contract this winter. Brooks was an elite college punter.

Eagles re-signed restricted free agent P Sav Rocca to a one-year, $1.101 million contract.
Rocca’s 42.4 average was in the lower half of the league, but he finished in the middle of the pack in net average at 38.3. The Eagles signed Durant Brooks in February, so Rocca will have to fight to keep his job this summer.
  • FA Punter #2
    Eagles re-signed P Ken Parrish to a three-year contract.
Formerly a police officer, Parrish was with the Eagles in training camp last year. He and former Packers punter Durant Brooks will push Sav Rocca for the starting job this summer.
