Bournemouth beat Sunderland 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday, as the Cherries eased to their first home win and clean sheet as a Premier League club.
Two goals inside the first 10 minutes from Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie did the damage --Ritchie’s strike was a beauty -- as Sunderland was reduced to 10-men late on when Younes Kaboul was shown a second yellow card.
With the win Bournemouth climb to 11th and have seven points, while Sunderland remain rock bottom on two points and the Black Cats have now not recorded a win in their opening six games of the last three seasons.

Bournemouth got off to a flying start as Wilson was played in by Dan Gosling and turned Younes Kaboul smartly before slotting past Costel Pantilimon coolly to give the Cherries the lead inside the first four minutes.

Inside 10 minutes it got even better for Bournemouth as a high ball found its way to Ritchie on the edge of the box and the pint-sized midfielder controlled the ball and sent a stunning volley into the top corner. 2-0 to Cherries as Sunderland was, once again, all over the place, as the closest they came in the first half was Jordi Gomez’s free kick hitting the post.

In the second half Sunderland improved with Jeremain Lens having a header harshly ruled out for being offside, then Defoe forced Artur Boruc into a fine save as the forward got in-behind the home defense. Fabio Borini also had a superb effort, eerily similar to Ritchie’s goal, as he volleyed narrowly over the bar from distance.

Late on Kaboul was shown a second yellow card for dragging down Wilson, as Sunderland ended the game with 10-men and zero points, while Bournemouth threatened to add more goals as Glenn Murray went close twice. Nevertheless, the Cherries had to settle for two goals as they secured their first home win in the PL.
