Following a massive win over Manchester City, West Ham supporters received some tough news as striker Diafra Sakho could be ruled out for a month with a shoulder injury.

Sakho tallied his sixth goal of the season in the 75th minute against Manchester City, which proved to be the game winner. His form has delighted West Ham supporters after the Senegal international joined the Hammers from French club Metz this summer.

The striker went down late in the match against Manchester City and was replaced by Kevin Nolan in the 89th minute. Hammers’ boss Sam Allardyce said he is worried about losing his team’s top goal scorer.

For me, my big worry is that my leading goal scorer came off with a shoulder problem. I just sincerely hope that damage is not severe and that he can carry on because when you have someone who scores six in six [in the league] you can ill afford to lose him and if we lose him that will be a big blow.”

After Sakho’s six goals, no other West Ham player has tallied more than twice this season. If the Hammers plan on continuing to battle for a top-four position, they will need to find goals somewhere in their roster. Striker Andy Carroll is yet to play this season after injuring his ankle in preseason.

Sakho is scheduled to undergo a scan on his shoulder Monday morning.
