A very early goal from Victor Wanyama (watch it here) was all Southampton needed to keep up its solid start to the Premier League season with a 1-0 road win over Hull City on Saturday.
It was a fairly even affair, but the Saints keep pace with table-toppers Chelsea and remain in second place with 22 points. Hull City is stuck on 11 points and mid-table.

The scoring took very little time to arrive, as Hull City keeper Eldin Jakupovic mishit a clearance low and to the center of the park. Victor Wanyama tore into a ball from nearly 40 yards away, and Jakupovic might’ve not saved the laser if he was in the goal.. It was 1-0 Saints.
The Tigers played pretty well, however, that moment aside. The first half could’ve gone other way but for Jakupovic’s error.

And the keeper redeemed himself a bit in the second half after Steven Davis slid a terrific through ball to Graziano Pelle, with the hot Southampton striker confounded by Jakupovic’s save.
Southampton held a slight edge in shots, while Hull took three more corner kicks.
