United States international Julian Green could debut for his new Bundesliga side, Hamburg SV, this weekend according to a report from German publication Kicker.

The 19-year-old forward arrived in Hamburg on Sunday following his part in the US’s 1-0 victory over the Czech Republic last Wednesday in Prague.

Green, who has been at Bayern Munich since his 2010 transfer from SG Hausham, was transferred to Hamburg on a year-long loan deal on September 1st. The agreement does not include an option for permanent transfer.

The move is seen as a positive one for Green, who will gain first-team experience in the Bundesliga, something he has yet to do in his young career (although, notably, he has featured in the Champions League).

“The team is great and I see very good opportunities to develop myself,” Green told the club’s official website upon arrival. The move also received the backing of US coach Jurgen Klinsmann. “He told me if it is possible to go to the HSV, I do it,” Green relayed.

The youngster is expected to factor in at a number of attacking positions, with Green giving slight preference to the wide areas. “I’m striker. [It] is not so important whether I left, play the right or in the center. [On the flanks] I am possibly a little stronger.”

With a number of Hamburg players currently struggling with injury, including 26-year-old German Nicolai Müller (abductor), 27-year-old CroatianIvo Ilicevic (thigh) and Dutch legend Rafael Van Der Vaart (calf), Green is in a promising position to factor into Mirko Slomka’s 18-man squad.

Hamburg travels to Hannover 96 on Sunday, kicking off at 11:30 am ET.
