Louis van Gaal announced on Friday that he plans to contest a recent FA charge over critical comments made regarding the referee in Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Cambridge United in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Van Gaal, who said on Jan. 23 that “every aspect of the match is against us - the pitch, the referee. Everything that you can think about this is against you,” was adamant he has said nothing wrong.
He went on to reference his sterling discipline record as a coach and manager, seemingly baffled by how the FA chose to interpret his comments.“I never said anything wrong. I never say something about the referee, never. I am not angry, I am very disappointed. For nearly 30 years I have been a trainer, coach or manager and I have never been charged.”
