Pogba, 23, has been the subject of a summer-long transfer saga and the deal is finally close to completion.

With both clubs agreeing a fee -- believed to be in the region of a world-record $130 million -- Pogba will now travel to Manchester to take his medical and sign for the Red Devils ahead of the new Premier League season.

In a brief statement on their website, United confirmed that Juventus have given them permission for Pogba to have a medical at their training ground.

Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United.

Pogba left United in 2012 and joined Juve for a fee of $1.2 million after a compensation fee was agreed following his decision to leave United with Sir Alex Ferguson failing to give him regular minutes.

He has since gone on to become a pivotal part of Juve’s success as he’s won four-straight Serie A titles in Turin and the lanky central midfielder has also shone for France and was crowned the Young Player of the Tournament at the 2014 World Cup.

Pogba is widely regarded to be the final piece in Mourinho’s jigsaw as he joins Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as United’s four new signings ahead of the new PL season which begins on Aug. 12.

United and Mourinho are going for it as they aim to move back among England and Europe’s elite following three years of regressions since Sir Alex retired.

Signing Pogba is the biggest indicator yet that United will do, and spend, whatever they can to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford.
