Ibrahimovic, 34, is currently captaining Sweden at EURO 2016 in France where he won his 114th cap in the 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland on Monday.
He is out of contract as of July 1 after deciding not to renew his contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
The enigmatic forward was expected to sign for United before the tournament began after Jose Mourinho’s arrival as the new manager at Old Trafford sparked widespread reports that Zlatan would be his first major signing.

However, it has been reported by Sky Sports in the UK that although Ibrahimovic has now agreed personal terms on a one-year contract with United he will not have a medical or officially sign with the Red Devils until after Sweden’s EURO 2016 campaign is over.
Other outlets have also reported that Zlatan has a “loyalty clause” in his current PSG deal which states that he will be due a $6million bonus if he doesn’t announce he’s signing for another team before its June 30 expiration.
If he does sign for United, the towering Swede will prove a great role model for youngster Marcus Rashford to learn from and as he’s proven in recent season in the UEFA Champions League and in Ligue 1, he can still score goals and make a huge difference at the elite level. Under Mourinho’s model of having a target man such as Didier Drogba, Diego Milito and Karim Benzema in his teams in the past, Zlatan can be the focal point of United’s attack and it is certainly exciting to think of how he and Wayne Rooney could link up in attack.
Zlatan has played for Malmo, Ajax, Barcelona, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and PSG in his storied career and his many memorable comments off the pitch have seen him written into soccer folklore. He has scored 392 goals in 677 games in his club career, while netting 62 times in 114 outings for Sweden. Over the last four years at PSG he’s won four-straight Ligue 1 titles, scoring 156 goals in 180 in all competitions.
When announcing his decision to leave PSG last month, Zlatan said: “I came like a King, I leave a Legend.”
Zlatan. Mourinho. Manchester United. It seems like a match made in heaven.
