Sad news has emerged from the 2014 World Cup as a second Argentine reporter has been killed while covering the tournament.
Brazilian officials have said that Jorge Luis Lopez died after being involved in a car accident in Sao Paulo caused as a vehicle being chased by police slammed into his taxi.
Police inspector Paulo Roberto Poli told Globo TV network that Lopez flew out of the car, hit a concrete wall and was killed instantly. The taxi driver suffered minor injuries and the three occupants of the stolen car were arrested.
Lopez was working for Argentine sports daily Ole and La Red radio station in Buenos Aires.
His death comes after the daughter of a famous Argentine journalist, Miguel “Titi” Fernandez, died in a road accident while reporting on the World Cup. Last week 26-year-old TV reporter Maria Soledad Fernandez was killed when the car she was riding in lost control and went over a cliff en-route from Belo Horizonte to Sao Paulo.
Argentine players have since taken to Twitter to mourn the loss of Fernandez and in the picture above right, you can see the Argentine media mourning the loss of one its own.
