An 86th-minute penalty allowed Galatasaray to win 2-1 over Trabzonspor on goals from Lukas Podolski and Selcuk Inan to earn the three points allowing Gala to climb back into third place, looking to get within striking distance of Besiktas and Fenerbahce who have surged to the top of the league.

Unfortunately, none of that was the story at Turk Telecom Arena.

Trabzonspor, who went ahead on a 25th minute penalty, lost their lead thanks to four second-half red cards. The first was midfielder Özer Hurmaci, who pulled his second yellow in the 59th minute. With Trabzonspor down to 10 men, Podolski leveled things up with a goal just after the hour mark.

That’s where things unraveled for the visitors.

As Galatasaray rained shots on Trabzonspor goalkeeper Onur, defender Aykut Demir picked up a second yellow of his own in the 70th minute, reducing Trabzonspor to nine men. It didn’t stop there. With Trabzonspor still clinging to the 1-1 scoreline, Belgian defender Luis Cavanda conceded a penalty in the 85th minute, earning a straight red in the process. The last man to see red for Trabzonspor was Salih Dursun, who did this:

The ol’ knock the card out of the ref’s hand and show it to him move. Classic. Dursun walked as well, and Inan slotted home the penalty to decide the match. Try again next time, Trabzonspor.
