Jordan Morris wins MAC Hermann Trophy as top college player

Jordan Morris has earned college soccer’s highest honor, winning the MAC Hermann Trophy as the best male player in NCAA Division I.

Morris led Stanford to the school’s first-ever national championship in men’s soccer, and was named the Most Outstanding Player at the College Cup.

He is the first player from Stanford to win the award.

The 21-year-old junior scored 13 goals in 18 appearances for Stanford, and finished the season as the nation’s seventh-highest goalscorer. He also missed five matches while reporting for national team duty with the USMNT.

With the national team, Morris has made seven appearances and scored one goal, the game-winner against Mexico last April. He recently announced he would be skipping his senior year of eligibility to turn professional.

Penn State’s Raquel Rodriguez won the women’s award after leading the Nittany Lions to the school’s first national title. The 22-year-old plays for the Costa Rican national team, and scored the country’s first-ever World Cup goal against Spain last summer.
