Vardy to have groin surgery, will miss two weeks

Jamie Vardy is set to have minor groin surgery, which will rule him out of action for up to two weeks.

The striker played all 90 minutes in Leicester’s 0-0 draw against Bournemouth on Saturday, as the procedure will fix a problem that has bothered him for a period of time.

BBC Radio Leicester was the first to report the story, as Vardy will undergo minor surgery to relieve pressure in his groin. He will miss Leicester’s FA Cup match against Tottenham on January 10, and will likely miss the Foxes’ rematch against Spurs in the Premier League just three days later.

With 15 goals on the season, Vardy is currently the Premier League’s leading goalscorer, tied with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.

Leicester currently sit second on the table as the club has already reached Claudio Ranieri’s preseason goal of 40 points. However, the Foxes have been held scoreless in three consecutive matches, as Leicester must now try to find offense without their top target.
