WATCH: New Spurs forward Son’s hat trick helps South Korea let loose on Laos

There’s a large talent gulf between Laos and Liverpool, and a hot evening home in Hwaseong is far different from a cold night in Stoke, but new Spurs forward Heung-min Son sure shone brightly for South Korea ahead of his Tottenham debut.

Son scored in the 12th, 74th and 89th minutes of South Korea’s 8-0 win over Laos in AFC World Cup qualifying on Thursday. While the goalkeeping and defending weren’t that legendary, Son’s shooting was precise.

The 6-foot-1 23-year-old was acquired from Bayer Leverkusen for a meager -- we kid -- $30 million towards the end of the summer transfer window. He potted a career-best 17 goals for Bayer last season, including five in Europe.
