Wednesday’s Transfer Rumor Roundup: Di Maria to PSG, Evra to Juve, more

DiMaria

While several new signings and transfer have been made official today, including Gareth Barry to Everton and Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich, there’s even more buzz in the “what could happen?” department of silly season.

And it isn’t all silly.

PSG has struck the first blow in the Angel Di Maria sweepstakes by making an $83 million offer for the Real Madrid man, according to a Sky Italia report. Could that start a bidding war with expected suitors Manchester United, Monaco and Juventus amongst others?

We’ve already told you of the massive interest in American World Cup star DeAndre Yedlin and the three firm offers Seattle has received from UEFA Champions League clubs. Read more on that here.

The BBC is reporting that Patrice Evra is an object of desire for Juventus, who have reached out to Manchester United after the Red Devils triggered a one-year extension in the 33-year-old back’s contract. United does not have a ton of depth in the back, though they did add Luke Shaw in a high-profile move this summer.

Manchester City and Real Madrid disappointment Robinho is apparently the subject of a bidding war amongst three MLS teams, according to the league’s site. Orlando City, Chicago and New England are all linked as interested parties.

Fulham has sold 22-year-old Swiss midfielder Pajtim Kasami to Greek powers Olympiakos. He scored just three times in 55 games for the Cottagers.

Newcastle United is making a fresh approach for Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella, with a $16 million-plus offer according to Goal.com. The same report says the Magpies also want Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Inter Milan is making a strong approach to pry Stevan Jovetic away from Manchester City, while the Italian club is also looking into taking Chilean midfielder Gary Medel from Cardiff City.

Sky Bet seems to think Nicklas Bendtner to Aston Villa is a done-deal, with the odds on the controversial striker skipping Arsenal moving from 16:1 to 1:8. In any event, it seems he’s headed somewhere and soon.

Spanish newspaper AS says Chelsea will no longer chase Atletico Madrid back Filipe Luis.
