    Jets signed LB Stephone Anthony.
Anthony is a former failed first-round pick of the Saints but has ties to this Jets staff after playing for coach Adam Gase last year in Miami and LBs coach Joe Vitt in New Orleans. The Jets just lost starting ILB Avery Williamson to a torn ACL last week. Anthony won’t be counted on to start.

    Falcons signed LB Stephone Anthony.
The 31st pick in the 2015 draft, Anthony was a colossal flop. He played just 31 snaps for the Dolphins last season as a deep reserve and will look to carve out a similar role in Atlanta.

Saints SLB Stephone Anthony (leg) has resumed practicing.
There was at one point concern that Anthony’s Week 1 status might be in doubt, so this is good news for the Saints. Anthony finished his rookie campaign as Pro Football Focus’ No. 40 inside linebacker among 60 qualifiers. He especially struggled in pass coverage. With James Laurinaitis manning the middle, the Saints are hoping for more production from Anthony at SAM linebacker.

Sophomore LB Stephone Anthony said the switch to the strong side “makes [his] job easier.”
With James Laurinaitis set to take over both middle linebacker and play-calling duties, Anthony will not have as many responsibilities in his second season. “Laurinaitis takes pressure off of everybody,” Anthony said. “He’s the alpha dog. He’s gonna be able to help us a lot, and he’s gonna teach me a lot.” While Laurinaitis can bring leadership, he has been a below-average linebacker for several seasons. Anthony could find himself back in the middle sooner than he thinks.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Saints SLB Stephone Anthony (leg) will miss a “couple weeks.”
Anthony had to be carted to the locker room during the preseason opener against the Patriots, but coach Sean Payton said after the game he was expected back “sooner than later.” It looks like he was right. While it is possible Anthony is done for the preseason, he is “absolutely” expected to be ready for Week 1.

Saints placed LB Stephone Anthony on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
A 2015 first-round pick, Anthony followed up a mostly down rookie campaign with an all down sophomore season in which he was ultimately benched. Anthony still has time to turn it around, but he is looking dangerously like a bust. Next season will be make-or-break for the young linebacker.

Saints assistant GM Jeff Ireland said the team “still believe(s)” in 2015 first-round LB Stephone Anthony.
Ireland, the former Dolphins GM, heads the Saints’ college scouting department. Picked 31st overall in 2015, Anthony lost his job to James Laurinaitis this past season before Laurinaitis was eventually released mid-season. Anthony still barely played, getting in on just 133 snaps for the year before landing on I.R. (knee) in December. He needs to put something on film in 2017.

New Saints LBs coach Mike Nolan said he is “excited about” 2015 first-round LB Stephone Anthony.
Anthony fell deep into the doghouse last season, playing just 133 snaps after seeing 990 as a rookie. Nolan’s arrival appears to have wiped the slate clean. “I’ve gotten to know Anthony on a personal level, as well as a football level in meetings, I like him,” Nolan said. “Looking at tape of him, whether it was last year against Tampa Bay where he played the entire football game, whether it was the year before, he made a lot of plays.” Nolan added he thinks Anthony is best suited to play inside. The Saints added both A.J. Klein and Manti Te’o, but they would probably prefer the former first-rounder earning the starting MLB job.

ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett writes 2015 first-round LB Stephone Anthony’s roster spot “appears to be in jeopardy.”
Third-round pick Alex Anzalone looks set to win the weak-side linebacker job, and veteran Craig Robertson is the favorite for backup duties. That does not leave much room for Anthony, who is also dealing with an injury. A new start might be the best option for both sides.

Saints declared LB Stephone Anthony, CB Ken Crawley, LT Terron Armstead, WR Austin Carr, DE Trey Hendrickson, QB Taysom Hill, and LB Nathan Stupar inactive for Week 1 against the Vikings.
Anthony (ankle) was the only questionable one. Armstead is coming back from labrum surgery but remains week to week after avoiding the PUP list.
