T.J. Logan will undergo surgery for a patellar tendon injury.
The Athletic’s Greg Auman suggests it’s “not necessarily season-ending.” It’s a tough break for a 25-year-old kick returner in a contract year. A torn patellar tendon for Logan would put his career in doubt.

Buccaneers RB T.J. Logan was carted off the field from practice on Thursday.
Logan was in competition with Raymond Calais, Scotty Miller, and Jaydon Mickens for punt return duties. Any extended absence would likely entrench Calais on the team’s 53-man roster to start the season.

Buccaneers claimed RB T.J. Logan off waivers from the Cardinals.
Logan played under coach Bruce Arians with the Cardinals in 2017. He offers plenty of speed (4.37 forty) and posted a respectable 76-663-4 receiving line in four years at North Carolina. Logan is expected to work as the No. 4 running back to start the season behind Peyton Barber, Ronald Jones and Dare Ogunbowale, but he couldn’t have asked for a more shallow depth chart to work his way up.

Cardinals selected UNC RB T.J. Logan with the No. 179 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Logan (5’9/196) was a committee back and special teams ace all four years at UNC, tallying a career 398-2,165-19 (5.4 YPC) rushing line with 76 receptions and a 27.2-yard kickoff return average with five returned to the house. PFF College charted Logan with only one dropped pass over his final three seasons. Logan confirmed his long speed in Indy with a 4.37 forty, although the rest of his workouts were sub-par. A change-up back with return value, Logan projects as a low-ceiling niche player, albeit a useful one.

Cardinals placed RB T.J. Logan on injured reserve with a wrist injury.
We knew Logan was headed to I.R. a month ago, but the Cardinals held off on making the move official so he could be one of the team’s two candidates for return. The Cardinals will want to see what the fifth-rounder can do, especially after releasing Chris Johnson. Logan should be back to full health some time in November.

Kent Somers of AZCentral heard it’s “not looking good” for T.J. Logan (wrist).
Logan suffered a wrist injury in Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game. Though the Cardinals have not given “definitive word” on his injury, it sounds like they’re bracing for the worst. A fifth-round rookie out of UNC, Logan will likely begin his career on special teams when healthy.

The Cardinals will place rookie RB T.J. Logan (wrist) on injured reserve.
Logan needs surgery after dislocating his wrist in the Hall of Fame Game. He’ll miss at least 12 weeks, but could be a candidate for IR recall. With Logan out, Brittan Golden is the favorite to handle kick returns.
  • FA Running Back #22
Cardinals fifth-round RB T.J. Logan suffered a wrist injury in the Hall-of-Fame Game.
Coach Bruce Arians has his “fingers crossed” it’s not serious. Even with David Johnson and Chris Johnson sitting, Logan didn’t play on offense until the fourth quarter. Logan, who has 4.37 speed, is trying to make a mark on returns.
