Eastern Michigan redshirt sophomore WR Tanner Knue caught eight passes for 121 yards in a 38-31 loss to Ball State on Wednesday.
Knue (5'11/171) got the start due to EMU missing all three of their opening week starting receivers and was up to the task, recording his first career 100-yard game. The Mason, Ohio native’s highlight reel play came on a play-action pass out of pistol formation where he beat the opposing safety up the right seam for a 71-yard gain, setting up a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Preston Hutchinson. The promising sophomore only appeared in two games last season but did not record a catch. Knue will try to build on his breakout performance against Toledo next Wednesday.
