Former redshirt sophomore ULM OL Willie Tyler transferred to Rutgers.
Tyler (6'7"/335) likes to move around, as he’ll be at his fourth college in his career. He began at JUCO before moving to Texas, then went to ULM last year and now moves on to Rutgers. He is Rutgers second OL transfer of the day, and their fourth overall. Tyler is another giant, and Rutgers seems to have a very clear plan about how they want their O-line to look next year.

  • Former redshirt sophomore Texas OL Willie Tyler transferred to ULM>
Tyler (6'7/335) signed with Texas out of the JUCO ranks as a three-star recruit last winter and went on to take a redshirt his first year in Austin. He was initially reported to be transferring to Syracuse, but quickly backed off that pledge before enrolling. The Racine, WI native opted out in 2020 and indicated in his opt-out announcement that he would be returning for the 2021 season, but obviously that will not be happening now. He was rated as the 24th best offensive tackle from the 2019 class and should be an instant asset for the rebuilding Warhawks.

Tyler (6'7/335) signed with Texas out of the JUCO ranks as a three-star recruit last winter and went on to take a redshirt his first year in Austin. While he won’t play this coming season (assuming the season gets off the ground), the big-bodied offensive lineman indicated in his opt-out announcement that he would be returning for the 2021 season. His absence from the roster should be counted as a minor thinning of depth for the Longhorns.
