Seahawks selected Kentucky S Winston Guy with the No. 181 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
Like Wesley Woodyard before him, Guy saw action at linebacker and safety in Kentucky’s defense and projects as a high-impact special teamer out of the chute. He’s limited in coverage skills, but can back up Kam Chancellor and be an active member of the game-day 46 with an ability to run down kickoffs and punts.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #18
Seahawks WRs Sidney Rice (shoulder surgeries) and Kris Durham (shoulder surgery) ran routes during Thursday’s OTA workout.
Both players, along with sixth-round S Winston Guy, wore red non-contact jerseys as a precaution. The optimistic Seahawks expect Rice to be the healthiest he’s ever been by the time training camp rolls around. As far as we’re concerned, the three concussions in a 12-month span are every bit as worrisome as Rice’s twin shoulder surgeries.
  • FA Defensive Back
Seahawks S Winston Guy has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing substances.
The sixth-round rookie out of Kentucky has played just eight defensive snaps this season. The suspension could cost him a roster spot.
  • FA Defensive Back
Seahawks activated S Winston Guy from the reserve/suspended list and waived WR Deon Butler.
Guy was suspended four games for violating the league’s policy on PEDs. The rookie sixth-round pick has played in just two games this season, participating on eight defensive snaps. Butler was signed just last week, but he was an inactive for Week 16.
  • FA Defensive Back
Jaguars claimed S Winston Guy off waivers from the Seahawks.
Coach Gus Bradley continues to claim players from his former team. A 2012 sixth-round pick, Guy appeared in two games last season before earning a four-game ban for violating the league’s PED policy. He’ll try to carve out a role on special teams, though Guy could see strong safety snaps down the line.
  • FA Defensive Back
    Colts released S Winston Guy.
Guy was providing depth at the back end of Indy’s extraordinarily-thin secondary. He was no longer needed with Clayton Geathers back to full health.
  • FA Defensive Back
Josh Evans and Winston Guy are expected to compete for the Jaguars’ starting free safety job.
Evans, a sixth-round pick in last year’s draft, started 11 games as a rookie, notching 58 tackles and one pass breakup. He didn’t show much of a nose for the ball. Guy was claimed off waivers from Seattle prior to Week 1 and appeared in 14 games, making two starts. He has plus size at 6-foot-1 and 218 pounds. Guy is a big hitter. The Jaguars talked up Evans following the season.
  • FA Defensive Back
Jaguars S Josh Evans (foot) is not expected back until training camp.
Evans underwent a procedure to correct a bone spur on his foot May 20. He’ll fall a nose behind Winston Guy in their battle for the starting free safety gig. Jaguars coaches have been talking up both players.
  • FA Defensive Back
Jaguars S Winston Guy has worked exclusively with the first-team defense and is the leader to open the season as the starting free safety.
Guy was expected to compete with Josh Evans for the starting role, but Evans has missed all of OTAs and minicamp recovering from foot surgery. The injury has allowed Guy to move ahead, but either player could still win the competition with a strong training camp.
  • FA Defensive Back
    Jaguars waived S Winston Guy.
Guy opened the season as Jacksonville’s starting free safety. He played the majority of the defensive snaps in Weeks 1-3, but only played one down in last week’s loss to San Diego. The Jaguars will move forward with Josh Evans at free safety, and Johnathan Cyprien on the strong side.
