Rockies optioned SS Ezequiel Tovar, 3B Elehuris Montero and RHP Noah Davis to Triple-A Albuquerque; reassigned RHP Zach Lee and RHP Nate Griep to minor league camp.
This one is a bit of a surprise. The latest round of cuts trims the Rockies’ spring training roster down to 42. Tovar represents the most surprising inclusion after tallying a whopping nine hits in 16 at-bats this spring. The 20-year-old middle infielder could make an impact in the majors later this season.

Rockies signed RHP Zach Lee to a minor league contract.
Lee, a former first-round selection by the Dodgers back in 2010, was dealt to the Mariners during the 2016 campaign straight-up for future All-Star utility specialist Chris Taylor. The 30-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2017 season. He spent last year with the Athletics’ and Reds’ Triple-A affiliates, posting a calamitous 6.25 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 61/33 K/BB ratio across 80 2/3 innings (24 appearances, 16 starts). He’ll bolster the Rockies’ organizational starting pitching depth this season.

Lee was released by the Diamondbacks last month after registering an underwhelming 6.86 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 44/27 K/BB ratio across 61 2/3 innings (17 appearances, 13 starts) at Triple-A Reno. He’ll serve as organizational pitching depth over the remainder of the regular season.

Lee recorded a bloated 6.86 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 44/27 K/BB ratio across 61 2/3 innings (17 appearances, 13 starts) at Triple-A Reno this season. The 29-year-old righty was involved in one of the most lopsided trades in recent memory when he was dealt by the Dodgers to the Mariners for utility specialist Chris Taylor back in 2016.

Athletics signed RHP Zach Lee to a minor league contract.
The 28-year-old hurler hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since a three-game stint with the Padres in 2017. The former Dodgers’ prospect spent the 2019 season in the Mets’ organization where he compiled a 5.09 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 100/33 K/BB ratio over 122 innings between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse. He’ll add rotation depth at Triple-A for the A’s.

Mets signed RHP Zach Lee to a minor league contract.
Lee, a former highly-regarded prospect in the Dodgers’ system, had a 3.65 ERA and 107/35 K/BB ratio over 145 2/3 innings this past season between the Rays’ Double- and Triple-A affiliates. The 27-year-old has made four appearances in the majors during his career and mostly functions as upper-level pitching depth at this point.

Dodgers prospect Zach Lee (lat) threw another successful bullpen session on Tuesday in spring camp.
Lee suffered a lat strain in late January while doing pull-ups. He should be nearly 100 percent recovered by the start of the regular season and could very well make his major league debut at some point this summer.

Dodgers prospect right-hander Zach Lee skipped his first scheduled bullpen session Monday due to a mild right lat strain.
Lee suffered the injury a mini-camp two weeks ago while doing pull-ups. The 22-year-old is able to play catch and hopes to return to the mound soon. Considered one of the Dodgers’ top pitching prospects, Lee had a 3.22 ERA and 131/35 K/BB over 142 2/3 innings last season with Double-A Chattanooga. He could make his major league debut at some point in 2014.

Dodgers prospect right-hander Zach Lee (lat) is scheduled to throw from a mound Wednesday.
Lee suffered a mild lat strain three weeks ago while working out, but he’s making steady progress. The 22-year-old had a 3.22 ERA and 131/35 K/BB over 142 2/3 innings last season with Double-A Chattanooga and is considered one of the Dodgers’ top pitching prospects.

Mariners acquired RHP Zach Lee from the Dodgers for INF Chris Taylor.
The Mariners have had depth issues in their starting rotation with the injuries to Felix Hernandez, Wade Miley and Taijuan Walker, so Lee could have an opportunity to step in and contribute right away. A first round pick from the 2010 draft, the 24-year-old Lee owns a 4.89 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 57/15 K/BB ratio across 73 2/3 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
