Washington waived/released CB Aaron Colvin, S Sean Davis, DE Nate Orchard, TE Richard Rodgers, T Paul Adams, DT David Bada, DE Jordan Brailford, WR Tony Brown, G Joshua Garnett, TE Hale Hentges, WR Johnathon Johnson, CB Ryan Lewis, QB Steven Montez, LB Jared Norris, T Timon Parris, LB Donald Payne, C Ross Pierschbacher, WR Trey Quinn, S Jeremy Reaves, WR Cam Sims, T David Steinmetz, and WR Jester Weah.
Colvin was fighting for a backup job at slot corner but Washington made the decision to move on from him. He made his way to Washington after starting 2019 with the Texans. He played in six games and notched two starts for Washington. Colvin recorded a lone deflection and 10 tackles with the team.

    Redskins re-signed CB Aaron Colvin.
Colvin was cut from the Texans after an absolutely disastrous Week 1 in 2019. He went on to appear in six games for Washington with two starts, accounting for 10 tackles and one pass deflection along the way. Don’t expect Colvin to compete for much more than a backup job at slot corner after the Redskins reunited with Kendall Fuller during the offseason.

    Redskins signed CB Aaron Colvin.
The Redskins also promoted WR Robert Davis to the active roster (he had been on their practice squad) while placing DE Caleb Brantley (foot) and RB Derrius Guice (knee) on injured reserve. Colvin was dumped by the Texans this week after getting lit up by the Saints on Monday Night Football. Despite a disappointing tenure in Houston, Colvin brings 28 games of starting experience to the Redskins and could benefit from a change of scenery in the nation’s capital. His signing would seem to indicate Quinton Dunbar (knee) is in danger of missing Week 2 against Dallas.

    Texans released CB Aaron Colvin.
This the latest big move from a team without a general manager. The Texans signed Colvin to a four-year, $34 million contract with $18 million guaranteed just last offseason and still owe Colvin $7.5 million guaranteed with $10.5 million in dead money. Ouch. This won’t help the Texans secondary issues, and there aren’t free agents to bandaid the situation. Colvin had a down 2018 season and just allowed eight receptions, 117 yards, and one touchdown on Monday Night Football, but he should re-surface shortly. Perhaps a new coaching staff can get him back to his 2016 and 2017 form.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien praised CB Aaron Colvin’s work this offseason.
Signed to a four-year, $34 million deal last March, Colvin had a disastrous first season in Houston which included six missed games because of an ankle injury and finished with him as a healthy scratch in the playoffs. Colvin is back to full health, however, and making his case for a spot in the starting lineup. Given what Houston lost in the secondary, it would not be a surprise if Colvin won the slot corner job.
  • FA Defensive Back #36
Texans CB Aaron Colvin (ankle) has been a full participant at practice this week.
Colvin is aiming to return this week after sitting out the last six games with an ankle injury. “I think he’s got a chance,” said coach Bill O’Brien when asked about Colvin’s status for Monday night’s game against the Titans. “I think that extra day will probably help.” Kareem Jackson has been filling in at slot corner for Houston but will probably move back to the perimeter upon Colvin’s return.

Texans coach Bill O’Brien said CB Aaron Colvin (ankle) could return after the Week 10 bye.
Colvin has been out since Week 5. He was expected to miss at least six weeks, so this is on the early side of his timetable. Colvin was having a rough first month before going down, but his return would upgrade the Texans’ slot coverage.
  • FA Defensive Back #36
Texans slot CB Aaron Colvin (ankle) is expected to miss at least six weeks.
The Texans are holding off on placing him on injured reserve for now. Colvin was struggling before his ankle injury, but losing him is a blow to Houston’s secondary. The Texans are going with Kayvon Webster and Shareece Wright in sub-packages.
  • FA Defensive Back #36
Texans slot CB Aaron Colvin will be sidelined indefinitely with a “severe” ankle injury.
Speaking Monday, coach Bill O’Brien said Colvin “could” play again this season. It certainly sounds like Colvin is headed to injured reserve, perhaps with an eye toward returning. Colvin has been having a dreadful year, but the Texans’ cornerback corps could not afford to get any thinner. Now it has.

Oklahoma CB Aaron Colvin underwent ACL surgery on Monday.
Colvin suffered the ligament tear in Senior Bowl practice. A second-day pick possibility before the ACL injury, Colvin now figures to be available in rounds 5-7. The good news is he suffered a “clean” tear, involving only the ACL. Colvin will have a chance to contribute late in his rookie season.
