Cowboys signed Texas A&M LB Aaron Hansford.
Originally a wide receiver, Hansford (6'2"/239) is a solid athlete, posting an 8.07 relative athletic score, and he moves fairly well sideline to sideline. He’s at his best when he gets downhill, though, attacking hard and not afraid to get in there and mix things up. That also gives him real potential as a blitzer, and he racked up seven sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss in his A&M career. His coverage ability and overall play in space aren’t fantastic, but he did post a solid 70.7 coverage grade on 334 snaps in 2021. The fact that his 2021 was by far his best year is a sign that he’s understanding the position more and more each season. Hansford has the prerequisite body to make it in the NFL and shows real promise considering he hasn’t had too many reps at linebacker.
