Boston Red Sox ( +115) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (-136) Total: 9.5

The Boston Red Sox are currently in first place in the A.L. East, but the rest of the division outside of the Baltimore Orioles are less than two games behind. Tonight the Red Sox send Nick Pivetta to the mound to try to take the series from the rival Blue Jays. Pivetta is 5-0 on the season and the Red Sox are 7-1 on the money line in games he has pitched in. Pivetta has struck out 17 batters and only allowed seven earned runs in his last 17 innings pitched, while the Red Sox are 5-3 to the Over in games he has pitched this season.

The Blue Jays will send Steven Matz to the hill tonight as they try to win their fourth game out of their last five. Matz has been solid this season with a 5-2 record on the money line and 47 strikeouts through 42 innings. The Blue Jays are 5-3 to the Over in games Matz has started this year.

The Red Sox and Blue Jays have split their last 26 games. This game opened up with the Blue Jays as a -136 home favorite, the same number that PointsBet currently sits at. The line freeze in this game indicates that sharp money may be hitting the Red Sox as an underdog. The Total in this game opened up at 10, and that line has dropped to 9.5 at most shops. PointsBet has the 9.5 juiced to -115.

Boston is in a good spot in this game. In most instances when the Total is set at 9 or higher I’m going to take a crack on the underdog, especially when the underdog is as good a team as the Red Sox have been so far. Boston is 6-2 on the money line as road underdogs this season.

Edge Finder Tip: The Red Sox are 13-3 as underdogs in their last 16 games.

Edge: Red Sox +115
