The men’s semifinals take center stage at the 2022 U.S. Open on Friday evening. The first semi pits Karen Khachanov (+160) against Casper Ruud (-210). Carlos Alcaraz (-210) takes the court in the nightcap against Frances Tiafoe (+160).
NBC Sports EDGE Analyst Kenny Ducey likes Alcaraz against the upstart Tiafoe.
Frances Tiafoe is an incredible story. No American has won since Andy Roddick in 2003 when he defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero. Unfortunately, Tiafoe is facing the one man playing even better than he is. Alcaraz enters the semifinal match on the heels of an instant classic, an epic five set victory over Jannik Sinner. It was the second consecutive five set match for the 19-year-old Spaniard. With two more wins, Alcaraz will claim his first Grand Slam title and will ascend to #1 in the world rankings.
Alcaraz is 19-4 this season on hard courts this season with one victory to his credit while Tiafoe is winless on the surface while compiling a record of 15-9 in 2022.
Other highlights on the Thursday schedule include the women’s doubles semifinals. EDGE Analyst Drew Dinsick loves the team of Dolehide and Sanders (-135) in their match against Mcnally and Townsend (+102).
“The most dynamic pair in the Women’s doubles draw has undoubtedly been Caroline Dolehide and Storm Sanders. This duo is clear through to the semi-finals having only dropped one set in a competitive second round match; in their other three matches they’ve conceded only eleven total games and advanced in dominant fashion over the stout French team of Garcia/Mladenovic in the QFs.
Going back to last year’s US Open where they reached the semifinals for the first time, this pair is 13-5 on hard courts and have steadily improved their rating the whole time. Their opponents are a relatively new team and somewhat of a surprise to make this stage of the tournament and their dream run likely comes to an end in straight sets based on the sizable gap in doubles ratings. Dolehide/Sanders in straight sets fair play up to +135.”

The Daily Deuce split on Thursday with the men’s doubles ticket cashing but Caroline Garcia getting smoked by Ons Jabeur. As a result, the overall record of The Daily Deuce at The U.S. Open is now 12-9.
