According to James Ham, the Kings have waived Chima Moneke.
Moneke’s contract was due to become guaranteed for the remainder of the season on January 10. The Kings’ decision to waive him leaves them with an open roster spot, which can be used to bring in someone on a 10-day contract or a deal for the remainder of the season.

Chima Moneke (right thigh soreness) has been ruled out for Monday’s matchup with Phoenix.
Moneke has played a grand total of eight minutes in two appearances this season. This won’t impact fantasy hoops, though the Kings did make two-way players Keon Ellis and Neemias Queta available for this game.

Chima Moneke (right thigh soreness) is listed as questionable for Monday’s matchup with the Suns.
Moneke was just called up from the G-League, so even if he plays, there’s no guarantee he actually gets in the game. His availability won’t impact afantasy hoops.

  • NBA Power Forward #30
KZ Okpala, Chima Moneke and Matt Dellavedova have all made the Kings’ opening night roster.
Okpala has a chance to start at power forward until Keegan Murray takes over but none of these guys are going to have much fantasy value this season. Brett Siegel is reporting on Twitter that the Kings will be cutting Sam Merrill, Alex O’Connell and Jeriah Horne, as a result.

The Kings have signed UC Davis product Chima Moneke to a contract.
Moneke took the long road to the NBA. After transferring from Northeast Community College, Moneke graduated from UC Davis in 2018. He played in both France and Spain the past four years, before finally making his way to the league. Moneke has a connection with both head coach Mike Brown and the recently signed KZ Okpala, as they all were part of the Nigerian national team. Moneke will bring defense and athleticism, but we’ll see how much of a role he actually gets.
