It didn’t take Muller too long to find a new opportunity with Chicago after being released last week by the Rays. The 27-year-old righty reliever was up briefly with Tampa Bay earlier this season, but didn’t end up making his big league debut. He’ll head to Triple-A Charlotte as extra organizational depth.

Muller was up with the Rays at one point earlier this season, but didn’t end up making it into a game. The 27-year-old lefty will head out onto the open market for the second time this season.

Muller has rejoined the Rays just a few weeks after being released. The 27-year-old righty didn’t get into a game for Tampa Bay while up with the big league squad last month. He’ll head back to Triple-A Durham as extra organizational relief depth.

Muller passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment over the weekend and has been cut loose by the Rays to pursue a new opportunity on the free agent market. The 27-year-old righty was with Tampa Bay for a few days in the majors, but didn’t end up making an appearance.

Muller was added to the Rays’ 40-man roster after Drew Rasmussen landed on the injured list in early May. He never appeared out of the Rays bullpen and was jettisoned off the roster to make room for lefty Joe LaSorsa.

Muller has been shipped back to the minors with closer Pete Fairbanks returning from the injured list ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the Mets. The 27-year-old righty was up with the Rays for a couple days as extra bullpen depth, but didn’t end up making an appearance.

Muller has been called up to the majors for the first time in his career to take Drew Rasmussen’s spot on Tampa Bay’s active roster. The 27-year-old righty reliever has posted a respectable 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 19/10 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (14 appearances) this season for Triple-A Durham.
