‘Bama Recruit Still Trying To Make The Grade

A late academic hiccup has left Alabama recruit Dre Kirkpatrick scrambling to become eligible for the 2009 season, the Mobile Press-Register is reporting.According to Kirkpatrick’s high school coach, the cornerback is taking a correspondence course in order to gain approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse."That would be the goal,” said Joe Billingsley of Kirkpatrick trying to clear things academically in order to join the team for their second set of summer workouts. “From my understanding, that’s where it’s headed."Billingsley told the paper that his former player fell just short on the sliding scale involving grades and test scores utilized by The Clearinghouse.
