An incident late last year has led to a criminal charge for a member of the Penn State football program a couple of months later.
Running back Akeel Lynch, the Centre Daily Times reports, has been hit with one count of criminal mischief. The charge stemmed from a November incident at an on-campus residence hall.
The Allentown Morning Call is reporting that a broken window was involved, while the Daily Times reports that said window was broken as Lynch was trying to scare a friend. The total amount of damage was $938.
A preliminary hearing for the freshman has been set for March 27.
In a tweet posted to his Twitter account, the player wrote that the "[s]ituation occurred last semester, complete accident and already handled.” He added "[h]ave a great day” at the end of the tweet.
A three-star member of the Nittany Lions’ 2012 recruiting class, Lynch confirmed in August that he would indeed be playing his football at Penn State instead of bolting in the wake of NCAA sanctions. Lynch used his redshirt during his true freshman season last season, but has been singled out by head coach Bill O’Brien as a player who could make an impact in 2013.
