Kelly names Irish coordinators

Asexpected, Bob Diaco and Charley Molnar have both joined the Notre Damestaff after finishing the season with the Cincinnati Bearcats. Diacocoordinated the defense for Cincy while Molnar was the wide receiverscoach and passing game coordinator.

“I’m thrilled toofficially announce that Bob Diaco and Charley Molnar have joined me atNotre Dame and will serve in two leadership positions on my coachingstaff,” Kelly released in a statement. “I expect a lot from mycoordinators. Because they will direct the position coaches and ourplayers, the coordinators need to be effective leaders, clearcommunicators and self-starters. Bob and Charley possess these traitsand I look forward to having them help me lead the Irish.”

Diacowas an all-Big Ten linebacker at Iowa and has spent the last 14 yearscoaching at the collegiate level. He spent last season as Cincinnati’sdefensive coordinator, leaving the same position he was just elevatedto at Virginia under then coach Al Groh.

Molnar has spent26-years coaching in college football, 10 seasons as an offensivecoordinator. He’s coached the past four seasons with Kelly at bothCincinnati and Central Michigan.
