MEET YOUR NEW BOSS

While we still mourn the departure of MDS (we can’t think of a good way to say that without making it sound like he croaked), we’re thrilled to welcome our brand-spanking-new CFT Editor-In-Chief, John Taylor. But first we need to clarify something.John Taylor is not the former 49ers receiver.John Taylor is not the bassist in Duran Duran.John Taylor is not the kid from Home Improvement.John Taylor is the former Editor of NFLtalk.com, and he was blogging long before blogging became known to the blogosphere as blogging. Blog.Way back in 2000 (yes, we’re f--king old), Taylor was doing basically what I do at PFT. In June of that year, I responded to an open call for writers, and then I finagled a twice-per-week unpaid columnist thing into a 15 hours-per-week unpaid do-whatever-we-need role.Come 2001, NFLtalk.com landed in a death spiral. After a stint with the short-lived RealTeam.com, created by former Saints exec Terry O’Neil and then abruptly scuttled a few months later, John eventually landed at The Orange and Brown Report. His NFL stuff appears at TheOBR.com, which is part of Scout.com and, in turn, FOXSports.com.In this space, John is getting the keys to the Yugo and a half-tank of gas. What he says, goes. I’ll write some stuff on a semi-regular basis, and we might even be hiring another writer or two (cue the 257 new e-mails from prospecitve writers). But this will be John’s show. And the updates will be regular. And you’ll be visiting every day. And you’ll support our sponsors by buying all sorts of crap. And the traffic will grow to soon rival that of PFT.(Hey, if it worked for Nostradamus, it might work for us, too.)So welcome, John. It’s all yours as of Monday.
